Overlook Privacy Policy
Effective September 24, 2026

Overlook collects no personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. What the app reads to show in your notch stays on your Mac, except the requests you choose to make to your own Jira site.

What we don't do
- We don't collect, store, sell or share your personal information.
- We don't run analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking code. Overlook contains no third-party SDKs.
- We don't have servers that receive data from the app. Nothing Overlook reads is sent to us.

Calendar
If you allow calendar access, Overlook reads today's events from the calendars already on your Mac so it can show them in the notch and find video-meeting links such as Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. Events are read on demand and are never saved or sent anywhere. Joining a meeting simply opens its link.
You can turn this off in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars.

Music and other audio
If you allow it, Overlook asks Apple Music and Spotify on your Mac what's playing and sends them play, pause, skip and seek commands. Spotify artwork is downloaded from Spotify's servers to display it, the same way the Spotify app does.
When another app is playing sound, such as a browser, Overlook checks which app it is using macOS's audio system so it can show that app's name and icon. It never sees what that app is playing.
Music and Spotify access is under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Automation.

Accessibility
For apps Overlook can't control directly, its play/pause and skip buttons press your Mac's media keys for you, which macOS only allows with Accessibility permission. Overlook uses that permission for nothing else: it doesn't read your screen, your keystrokes or other apps' windows.
Grant or revoke it under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.

Jira
Jira is optional. If you connect it, Overlook sends requests straight from your Mac to the Jira Cloud site you enter, using your email and API token, to list issues and change their status. Your API token is stored in your Mac's keychain; your site address, email and filter choice are stored in Overlook's settings on your Mac. We never receive any of it.
Those requests are handled by Atlassian under its own privacy policy. Remove your details in Overlook's Jira settings, or revoke the token from your Atlassian account, whenever you like.

Your settings
Your layout, appearance and other preferences are saved in Overlook's own storage on your Mac. They never leave it.

The App Store
Overlook is distributed through the Mac App Store. Downloads, purchases and any crash or usage data you choose to share with developers are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

Children
Overlook doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy
If Overlook ever starts collecting or sending data in a new way, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
